Holy Trinity flag football has been a big part of the Holy Trinity traditions. It all started back in the 70’s and 80’s when our school won multiple championships. Ever since then our players and coaches have taken it into their hands to keep this football spirit alive. Our players strive for victory in every game no matter the conditions. Our players fight until the final whistle blows. This game has bound itself to all the hearts of our students, athletes, faculty, staff, alumni, friends, and the families of Holy Trinity.
As of today Holy Trinity has ended up with multiple alumni graduating and currently playing in college, such as Mark Gray (Cal); Benny Weischedel (Willamette), Kenny Potter (San Jose State QB), and Ryan Brockway (Chapman College). Holy Trinity has also had alumni drafted into the NFL. Those athletes include Bryan Bero (retired), fullback for the Chicago Bears; a retired tight end for the Tennessee Titans, Craig Stevens. These athletes have paved the way and inspired many other students at Holy Trinity. Working hard and improving skills provides a conduit to possibly playing at the same level as these Holy Trinity alumni.
Our students are eligible to participate in flag football from 4th grade until they graduate in 8th grade. The 4th graders play on the “C” team which focuses on the development of these Charger athletes. The 5th and 6th graders play on our “B” team. When the students reach 7th and 8th grades, they are eligible to play for our Varsity team.
Our “B” team is a team that allows 5th and 6th graders to get a feel for the Charger football style. The majority of the teams from the Los Angeles area play in the CYO League. The team plays a rigorous schedule in the CYO League.
In 7th grade the students are eligible to play on the Varsity team. The Varsity team have games on the weekends and occasionally a weekday. The varsity team also plays in the CYO League.
Both the “B” team and the Varsity have done well in the CYO League. The Varsity team holds a strong record and is competing for a CYO title . Both teams keep the Holy Trinity name high in the standards every year.
